Indian Winter? Record-breaking November

Christmas strawberries?

Since when do strawberry plants bear fruit in December?  The Indian summer has plowed straight through autumn and run right into winter… and who ever heard of an Indian winter?

We’ve just experienced France’s second warmest November since the start of the twentieth century.   Since 1900, the hottest on record was in 2006, and 2009 ranks at number three… hmmm, do I see a trend here?  If so, then brace yourself…  these temperature extremes could flip flop, and last winter was record-breaking cold.   The French have a saying, “Noel au balcon, Paques au tison” :  Christmas on the balcony, Easter near the chimney.

But in the meantime, this doux hiver should go on for at least another week, so take advantage and take a nightime stroll to check out the new holiday lights that go live this weekend…

Well ,our poor cherry tree doesn’t know what to think. It’s got yellow leaves, some new green leaves and blossoms on some boughs. And now the doves are building a nest in the bay tree. Mmmmm. What’s next?
