Giant Vide Grenier Sunday in Nice

If the Cannes Film Festival glamour is not your thing… the top anti-glamour event of the weekend is the Grande Vide Grenier de Nice, a massive swap meet/flea market/car boot sale on Sunday at the Palais des Expositions parking lot, just steps from the tram stop of the same name.

Europe doesn’t do Garage Sales, preferring Car Boot Sales in the UK and Vide Greniers in France, which means literally “empty your attic”… and empty their attics they do!   One person’s trash is another’s treasure, so you can find everything from the most hilarious junk to the most interesting antiques.   The prices are a fraction of the weekly antique markets and bargaining is the way to go.

Tomorrow’s Vide Grenier is going off rain or shine, so bring an umbrella, or buy one there!

Fantastic! Where exactly is the Palais des Expositions parking lot?

Take the tramway and get off at the ‘Palais des Expositions’ tram stop and you can’t miss it!

Oh, merci pour cette info capitale ! Nous irons, Geno et moi, faire de “bonnes affaires” grâce à toi et si tu ne passes pas avant nous, bien sûr ;-)

    Ciao!
You say: “One person’s trash is another’s treasure”.
Do you think we can also say: “One trash person is another’s treasure” ???
In this case I suggest a “Lovers vide grenier”.
    Ciaoooo

    Hi, Bestof – excellent blog.

Last time we were in Nice I bought the bargain hunters’ guide from Nice Matin, and I think it indicated a further three or four vide greniers to come this summer – is that right? Do you know if they are as big as the one held in May?

We’ll be spending much of the summer in Nice so I can prob go to a couple of them.

    Heather
