The Nice Jazz Festival starts on Sunday, and all this week, all around town, they’ve been giving out free samples with strolling musicians and impromptu performances as part of the complementary OFF Festival (think ‘Off-center‘ or ‘Off Broadway‘…)

But tonight, the OFF Festival really kicks ‘off’, starting with nightly free concerts/parties/films in Place Pierre-Gautier, just off Cours Saleya at 8:30pm:
- Wednesday: Balkan Bal with DJ Grounchoo + Manouchka Orkestar (photo)
- Thursday: Latino Dance Party Diabloson + DJ
- Friday: Jazz concert followed by an open-air screening of ‘Some Like it Hot’
- Saturday: Soul concert followed by an open-air screening of ‘All That Jazz’
Starting Thursday at Place Massena from 5-7:30pm, they’re hosting free mini-Nice Jazz Festivals showcasing 3 local acts a night, and running every evening throughout the entire festival.
In the lead up to the festival this week, the local jazz clubs around town are featuring an eclectic mix of programming in association with the Nice Jazz Festival, and then once the festival starts, the headliners themselves are invited to cut loose at the nightly after-party/jam sessions, at The B-Spot from 10pm-3am. All free with no cover charge.
